Role Overview:
The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various IT and electronic equipment across the university. This includes office computers, access control systems, smart displays, multimedia devices, and other campus infrastructure. The role ensures the continuous functionality of hardware assets, provides end-user support, and collaborates with IT and administrative teams to optimize technology usage.
Key Duties:
【Hardware Maintenance and Support】
Install, configure, and maintain campus IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, access control systems (campus gates), smart displays, and multimedia equipment.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and peripheral malfunctions to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operation.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on university devices.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs and replacements as needed.
【Technical Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution】
Respond to support requests from faculty, staff regarding network or office equipment issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems efficiently.
Work with the network engineering team to diagnose network-related hardware failures.
Maintain a detailed log of technical issues, solutions, and recommendations for future reference.
【Software and System Support】
Assist with the installation and configuration of operating systems, device drivers, and essential software.
Ensure security updates, patches, and firmware upgrades are applied to hardware components.
Provide support for system imaging and deployment of standardized configurations across campus devices.
Requirements:
Skill Requirements: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware issues. Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, and Wi-Fi configurations. Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. Knowledge of access control systems, surveillance systems, and multimedia devices.
Experience Requirements: Experience in IT support, hardware maintenance, or a related role.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
