Role Overview:

The Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the university’s network infrastructure to ensure stable and secure operations. This position plays a crucial role in managing network hardware, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and enhancing overall network performance. The role requires strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential network risks, ensuring seamless campus-wide connectivity for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Duties :

【Network Infrastructure Management】

Deploy, configure, and maintain core network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, access points.

Manage campus-wide wired and wireless networks, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.

Monitor network traffic, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.

Conduct regular network audits and capacity planning to support the university’s growing digital infrastructure needs.

【Network Security and Compliance】

Implement and enforce network security policies to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access.

Manage firewalls, VPNs, and access control mechanisms to ensure a secure network environment.

Conduct vulnerability assessments and collaborate with the IT security team to mitigate risks.

Maintain compliance with relevant IT security regulations and standards.

【Troubleshooting and Technical Support】

Diagnose and resolve network-related incidents, minimizing downtime and service disruptions.

Provide technical support and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on network-related issues.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, incident reports, and troubleshooting procedures.

【Collaboration and Innovation】

Work closely with system administrators, IT support teams, and external vendors for seamless integration of network systems.

Participate in planning and execution of network infrastructure upgrades and digital transformation projects.

Research emerging network technologies and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and security.

Requirements:

Skill Requirements: Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN, OSPF, BGP, VPN, etc.). Hands-on experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V). Familiarity with network monitoring tools. Understanding of cybersecurity principles, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems. Ability to script and automate network tasks using Python, Shell, or equivalent tools. Hands-on experience with network devices.

Experience in network management, IT infrastructure management, large-scale network deployment, network troubleshooting, optimization, or related areas

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
