Role Overview:
The Application Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the university’s campus-wide IT applications. This role focuses on maintaining the external operational environment of campus systems, including network connectivity, server infrastructure, and hardware integration. The engineer will diagnose and resolve system-related incidents, optimize system configurations, and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to implement maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
【System and Infrastructure Maintenance】
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot campus-wide applications running on networked infrastructure.
Ensure the seamless operation of applications across university servers, network devices, and endpoint systems.
Conduct regular system health checks, performance tuning, and preventive maintenance.
Manage system upgrades, patches, and hotfixes to maintain stability and security.
【Incident Management and Troubleshooting】
Investigate and resolve external system issues affecting application performance, including network failures, server downtime, and connectivity disruptions.
Work with network engineers and system administrators to diagnose root causes of system failures and implement corrective actions.
Log, analyze, and document system issues, creating knowledge base articles to improve incident
response efficiency.
Escalate complex technical issues to software vendors or third-party service providers as needed.
【Configuration and Optimization】
Implement and optimize system configurations to improve application performance and scalability.
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime in case of failures.
Coordinate with security teams to apply access controls, firewall rules, and security policies to protect application environments.
Assist in defining and implementing resource allocation strategies to ensure system efficiency.
【Collaboration and Resource Coordination】
Work closely with application support teams, network engineers, and hardware technicians to address system-related issues.
Coordinate with external service providers for hardware and network maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to university operations.
Assist in capacity planning and resource allocation for future IT infrastructure expansion.
Requirements:
Expertise in system deployment, network configurations, and security policies to ensure seamless application operations across the university’s Smart Campus infrastructure.
Experience with IT monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, or similar) to track application performance and system health. Familiarity with cloud computing and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or private cloud environments). Strong knowledge of server and storage technologies, including NAS, SAN, and virtualization platforms.
Experience in IT infrastructure maintenance, systems administration, or network operations, as well as troubleshooting large IT applications and working with multi-tier application architectures.
Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
